Silly Faces

Family Update

Once again I have been bit slow on my posting and once again, I am sorry about that.

So, quite a few things have happened since I last had time to sit at the computer. My own big news is that I have been promoted at work. I have been given a larger store to manage. I have been moved to Riverdale. It is a much larger store with much higher volume. I am excited and overwhelmed at the same time. I have a lot of work to do but I feel that I am up for the challenge.
That is all of my news. Wish me luck! (I think I really need it!)

Jennika lost her first tooth. She was so excited when the Tooth Fairy left her a two dollar bill and a one dollar gold coin. We were very proud of her because she even pulled it out herself. Now she is working on the other bottom front tooth. It was a good thing that the one fell out because her new tooth was just about completely in behind the baby tooth.

Brooklyn has turned into such a great helper around the house. She even loves to "play mom" and take care of Libby. She is growing up way too fast! She can't wait to go to preschool next year and tells everyone that she will be seven years old next week, the little silly goose.

Libby is also growing up way too fast. She loves to eat her solid food and is finally starting to gain weight. She loves to roll all over the place and is working on sitting up. We still have to visit the therapist about once a month because her neck is still not quite as strong as it should be. We see the therapist in a couple weeks and hopefully Libbs will be much improved and we can be discharged.

She Won Again!

Jennika won reflections again.
She took first place on the Council level and now
she has gone on to Region.
If she wins there she will move on to State.
Unfortunately, 3D Art is a Utah only category so if she wins State,
she is done.
We are so proud of her and can't wait to here how she does at Region.

A "Bit" of a Christmas Story

Christmas 2008
Christmas Eve started out just like any other day for me. I had to work. I got off around noon and went home to clean the house and get the girls all dressed and ready for a party. This year we went to D's sister Heidi's house for visiting and finger foods. Once home, we opened our jammies and the girls put them on. It is tradition at our house to read a new Christmas book that we get from Papa and Grandma Nettie, The Night Before Christmas, and then the story of Christ's birth from the Bible with D's parents. This year we let Bubba read The Night Before Christmas. She did a great job but, at our house this year, "not a creature was streaking". Then, while we go through the Bible, the girls set out pieces of the nativity to help them to remember the roles of the people in the nativity scene. I did cause a bit of trouble, however, when we got to the part about the angel. I have developed a bit of displeasure in the angels in nativity scenes. Therefore, I never put them out any more. So, when the angel started speaking, Bubba had to hold up a spare baby Jesus instead of an angel. We then say a family prayer and then it is off in Papa's truck to look at lights. This year Libbers and I stayed home because Libby was in desperate need of her bed. As soon as D and the girls got home, it was time for bed.

Amazingly enough, Santa made it to our house some time during the night.

Growing up we had a tradition in my family that I am happy to say that D and I have continued in our own family. Christmas morning, you have to sit at the top of the stairs for a picture before you can go downstairs to see what Santa brought for you. It is fun to look back at the pictures to see how the girls look.

The girls were so cute this year! Santa brought the following "big" gifts for everyone...
D --- Michigan sweatshirt and hat and a pancake pan
Me --- a new camera and a new hat
Bubbs --- boondoggle, a Fur Real pig, and a new make up set
Brookles --- a Fur Real lamb, a Cinderella play set, and a Sponge Bob toy
Libbers --- Rock-a-stacker toy

The hit of the morning for the girls was the Wii. Bubba wanted one so bad and she was positive that Santa would bring it to her. Well, fortunately for us, we know how to get in touch with Santa and we made arrangements with him that made it so that we could give the girls the Wii. Bubba's face was so funny when she opened it. She is such a little drama queen.

D's main gift from me was a new laptop. I was really worried that he was not going to like it but I am very happy to report that he not only likes it, he really likes it. (Thank goodness!) The best part about it was the fact that he had no idea what he was getting and never thought that I would give him a computer. It was great!

After we finished at our house, it was off to Grandma JoAnne's in Herriman
for brunch at 11:00. Unfortunately for us, Herriman got slammed that morning with snow. (When we left, my mom had about two feet in her driveway.) We made it there safely and we were only about thirty minutes late.

Following brunch, we had to be back to Papa and Grandma Nettie's house in Kaysville by 1:30. Once again, due to the weather in Herriman, we were only slightly late. Bruce and Annette gave all the kids these little racer bike car deal things. After all of the gift giving was complete, we went over to their church and let the kids, and even some of the adults go nuts. It was great! Thanks Papa and Grandma.

After the race car fun at the church, it was off to Great-Grandma and Grandpa Bitner's house for a light dinner. Sorry, I did not take any pictures there. I think my family was just about pictured out by this time. (Remember, I got a new camera for Christmas.)

After dinner, we were on our way home at last. The girls were itching to get home to play with all their new toys and mostly the Wii.

So ends the story of The Bitner Family Christmas 2008.
